Artezan Projects

This is a project based on a design and technique by Carol Swan. For those who are not familiar with her, Carol is most known for her dolphin paintings and underwater landscape. This project when finished and spray-varnished with gloss spray gives a stunning effect - the underwater background looks very dramatic and the dolphins, almost luminous. You can paint this on almost any surface but I recommend the woodpiece I have used here.

Length of project: Minimum of 3 classes of 3 hours each

Skills and techniques learnt and applied in this project:

• Creating a deep water background
• Using a dagger brush
• Floating and highlighting using a round brush
• Stippling
